“Oak Bay - The First Shore” Original Acrylic Painting on Canvas 30 x 40 inches - Framed

Details “Oak Bay - The First Shore”

This heavily textured painting is inspired by the rocky shoreline of Oak Bay, on Vancouver Island where I was born and spent my earliest years. It holds something of that first sense of place, the shoreline I so intimately knew before I knew how far life would carry me from it. It speaks to the places we carry with us, the landscapes of our beginnings that remain familiar through out our lives however far life has taken us.

Richly textured rocks in charcoal, sea greens, and warm gold frame the pale shallows distinctive of Oak Bay’s unique coastline. In the distance, delicate sailboat masts softened by memory and light. See if you are able to find hidden amongst the rocks the tiny sandpiper birds.

The rocky shoreline draws the eye inward from the foreground, following the pale channels of water toward the light on the horizon. Sweeping clouds echo this movement, creating a sense of depth and openness, while the distant marina offers a delicate point of interest.

Framing

The gallery-wrapped canvas is securely mounted in an elegant brushed antique-gold floating aluminum frame, with a subtle space between the canvas and frame. Frame Depth are 2” (5 cm) wide.

The finished framed will add approximately 3/4” inch (1.9cm) to each side to overall paiting size.

If you’d prefer champagne gold, or black it is also available upon request.
